Welcome Back!

Welcome to the 2019-2020 school year! It’s been wonderful to be back and see all the students after the summer holidays. I’m excited to say that most of our programs have started back up as a result of hard work and planning thanks to the dedication of new and returning SJMEC staff.

Our school goals this year continue to focus on literacy, numeracy and parent/community engagement. The school is proud to be starting its second year of kindergarten immersion to promote language and culture. We are looking forward to using our school library space and expanding our school-wide reading program. Cultural Friday’s have begun and the students are already enjoying many outdoor learning activities including camping, fishing, cook-outs at the school tepee and bannock making. Meegwetch to our Elders and Knowledge Keepers for their teachings as the school continues to extend learning beyond the classroom to integrate traditional and contemporary knowledge and skills.

The school is guided by the Grandfather teachings to support a safe and caring school environment.  Respect and family are the teaching value and theme for September.
